Broadstone Business Centre provides offices and workshops for businesses in Broadstone, near Poole, Dorset. Within walking distance of the town’s amenities, the centre offers a practical base for a community of local businesses.
For a business centre, reliable connectivity is essential. Tenants need to get on with their work, whether they’re joining video calls, accessing cloud applications or keeping in touch with customers.
Broadstone Business Centre’s existing consumer-grade mesh system wasn’t meeting those needs. Connections were unreliable, coverage was patchy and speeds were disappointing. For Tracey, the office manager, tenant complaints had become a recurring headache.
Ingenio IT transformed the network with new structured cabling and business-grade WiFi throughout the building, delivering a substantial improvement in speed, coverage and everyday reliability.

Moving beyond consumer mesh
The existing mesh setup wasn’t providing the coverage or consistency Broadstone Business Centre needed.
With multiple businesses relying on connectivity throughout the working day, the centre needed a more capable solution. We replaced the consumer setup with a network designed around the building and the people using it.
Building a stronger foundation
We installed over 600 metres of Cat6 cable to create a dependable network backbone throughout the centre, supporting wired connections and the new wireless network.
Every access point is backed by a wired 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet connection with Power over Ethernet (PoE), delivering both data and power through a single cable. This provides a fast connection to the network without relying on wireless links between access points.
The new cabling also gives the centre greater flexibility as tenants move, office requirements change and demand grows.
Comprehensive coverage throughout the building
With close to 20 business-grade access points deployed throughout the centre, the new wireless network provides much more consistent coverage across offices and shared spaces.
Distributing connectivity across multiple wired access points helps accommodate a busy building, where numerous tenants and devices need to stay connected at the same time.
The result is hugely improved speeds and coverage, giving tenants a connection they can depend on for everyday work.
The difference has been fantastic. Speeds and coverage are hugely improved, and I’m no longer getting tenants complaining about the WiFi. Alex and Oliver from Ingenio IT have made something that used to cause us regular headaches feel easy. We look forward to working with them again.
One WiFi network, secure separation for every business
Using UniFi’s network segmentation technology, we created a single wireless network that keeps each tenant’s devices and traffic securely separated from other businesses.
Tenants benefit from seamless coverage throughout the building while their computers, printers and other connected equipment remain within their own private network. It combines the simplicity of shared WiFi with the security and privacy each business needs.
Less frustration for tenants and management
Poor connectivity creates work for everyone. Tenants lose time dealing with unreliable connections, while the office team becomes the first point of contact for complaints.
With the new network in place, those recurring complaints have stopped. Tenants can focus on running their businesses, and Tracey can spend her time managing the centre rather than chasing connectivity problems.
The result
Broadstone Business Centre now has the network infrastructure its working environment demands: over 600 metres of Cat6 cabling, close to 20 access points and 2.5GbE PoE connections supporting WiFi throughout the building.
Combined with secure separation between tenants, the new network delivers a better experience for the businesses that depend on it every day.
For tenants, it means faster, more reliable connectivity. For Tracey, it means no more recurring WiFi complaints, and one less headache on the office management list.
